ISFAHAN -- The Head of the Royal Commission for Supervision over Saudi Arabia's Industrial Regions, Emir Saud bin Abdullah bin al-Thanayan al-Saud, and Isfahan Governor General Seyed Ja'far Mousavi discussed possible fields of cooperation on Wednesday.
The Saudi official who arrived Isfahan on Tuesday on an invitation by Iran's Foreign Ministry will visit Iran's industrial centers during his stay.
In his meeting with the Isfahan governor general, the emir said that the Royal Commission is responsible for facilitating infrastructure investments in Saudi Arabia's Jubail and Yanbo' industrial regions.
He said his government has so far invested 15 billion dollars in these two regions.
65 percent of Saudi Arabia's industrial facilities are located in these two industrial townships, according to the Saudi official.
"Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran are two important Islamic countries," he said, adding "that we have many things in common, including our religion, Islam." The Saudi official expressed satisfaction on the improving relations between the two countries in various fields, since President Khatami has taken charge in Iran.
The Isfahan governor general, too, referred to the importance of close cooperation between these two important Islamic countries at the international scenes, which has already bore sweet fruits in fixing the oil prices at a satisfactory level for OPEC members.
He also pointed to the two countries' close cooperation over the ongoing Palestinian crisis which was crystallized during the recent OIC Summit.
